When I was growing up in the eighties, I used to hear a lot of negativity about Panama City Beach, Florida. Wasn’t the best place to go, didn’t have a lot to do, the whole litany of things you might want to imagine. As I became an adult though, I have found myself have opportunities to go to Panama City more than i can count and I have to say, these days, I would say no..There is plenty to do, and it can be a lot of fun, if you want it to be.
If you go, of course you are going for the beach and the “fun in the sun” so to speak, the beaches are clean and plenty of space and up and down the coast. You can find rentable space in PCB proper or further up and down the coast and in many price ranges too. If you need a break away from the beach, there is the usual beach community/tourism based entertainment. Everything from arcades, go cart tracks, lazy rivers, mini golf, and more. There are great golf courses for the golfer in your family and yes, there is even a Ripley’s Believe It or Not! You need to get your shopping in? The stores of Pier Park offer a lot of options there as well in addition to entertainment. The usual activities of jet ski rental, parasailing, all of that is available as well. On a rare opportunity dependent on when you are down there, you may also have the opportunity to witness the US Navy Flight Demonstration team, The Blue Angels, either returning to their home base at Pensacola (depending on where they are coming in from), or possibly practicing dependent on where they are in their season.
Now, if you don’t do it already and trips like this, we recommend going to the grocery store and banking up on breakfast and lunch foods. you won’t want to go out for breakfast a lot and depending on what you are doing, you may not want to be out for lunch (or you may not have the opportunity either) too. Does that mean that there isn’t any good places to eat breakfast and lunch? Not in a million years. There are the chains, great lunch stops along the way that are burgers, and chicken and seafood, and a taste of everything you could potentially ask for. It also runs the full range of pricing that you may think of too.
If you are looking for a good place to celebrate a special occasion in your life while at the beach, allow us to recommend the Firefly Set up in the Mediterranean Bistro style it has opportunities for groups, it has space for parties, it has space for gatherings for friends, it has space for families and yes, space for couples also. With the sushi bar, wine lockers, and the overall atmosphere, you have a great possibility of having a food experience here and not just a trip to a restaurant. Steaks, chicken, pork, sushi and yes seafood all dot the menu in addition to pasta, soup, salad and sandwich. A kid friendly restaurant too, this is a good spot for most all ages. You can expect that, dependent on your party size, to pay just a bit, but again we expect that you will find it a good visit.
After this week, we are going to turn our attention to outdoor opportunities. Calling attention to things like state parks and other outdoor opportunities that you may or may not be aware of. Does that mean we won’t feature food anymore? Not at all, we are just going to change gears and look another direction for a bit.
Until next time friends.
