Rocket City Road Trip! More to do thank you think in Huntsville, Alabama.

One of the things I have enjoyed the most over the years is trekking through the non-traditional or the things that are kind of off the beaten path. While this may not be “off the beaten path” Persay, I submit to you that it is a not “usual” location setting, but has a wide, wide range of opportunities. If you haven’t met yet, let me introduce you to Huntsville, Alabama.

On first glance, you may be thinking something like, “Really? What is there to do there?”. In reality, there is quite a bit actually. The first obvious thing is they are the “Rocket City”. Home to the US Military Red Stone Arsenal, Huntsville has had strong historical ties to research related to space and exploration. Many have enjoyed the Space Camp experience since its inception in 1982 with over 900,000 alumni including current/past astronauts having completed the program. The US Space and Rocket Center is home to some of the NASA history as well. Rockets and more from US history are found on the site.

Want to hit the foodie scene? Huntsville does a phenomenal job of incubating niche restaurants and start-ups. Of course, you have your chains and standards, but if you look deep enough, you’ll find specialty places all around the community. Are you a barbeque fan? Try your hand at the North Alabama Barbecue Trail. Fifteen restaurants scattered across the north half of the state with delicious bbq for you to try. Interested in wine? Try the Wine Trail. Six Applachian Mountain wineries in the area you can take a swing at too.

Pro sports are on the scene too with soccer, minor league baseball, and more available for you to take in. With proximity to lakes and great outdoor experiences, there are a lot of options, and cost-practical if you need something budget-friendly, for you to take in too.

Also, if you need a place just to take a break, you can certainly go and hideaway in that space also!
